Sometimes you have a client that you can honestly say changes the way you see things and then there are those clients that completely change your career path, seriously! It was two years ago this month that Tara and Scott invited Mathew and I over so I could play around with my new digital camera and take some pictures of her belly, which soon became our man “H”. Until that day I had never really given much thought about becoming a portrait photographer, I was quite happy taking pictures of landscapes, birds and my puppy Simcoe for my own pleasure. A couple months later when they invited me back to take some pictures of a newborn Mr “H” I knew I was hooked. So fast forward two whole years and I finally got a chance to take some new family pictures for the family that started it all on another very sunny but this time very colorful Fall morning!!! Thank you Bone Family for being great!
I have known the Ward family about as long as I have known Mathews family as they are part of the Hollands extended family. Mathew recently went on a portage trip into Algonquin park with Steven, which he is still describing as the most painful experience of his life although I am sure he would jump at the chance to go fishing in the middle of nowhere again in a second if Steven promised a shorter route Other brother, Kevin, for those of you who dont know is the owner of Fernwood farms on Hwy 26 to Collingwood. If you are ever driving by on your way to the mountain or to the beach its worth the stop, there pies and tarts are mouth-watering and they have a great selection of local produce. Linda and Roy contacted me last fall because they wanted an updated family portrait for their home, unfortunately with all of our crazy schedules it took us an entire year to get everyone in the same place on the same day but I think the wait was worth it!!!
Taggart children and I first met at their family shoot last fall and I had the time of my life so mom invited me back to take some updated family pictures I knew I couldn’t pass up the fun. This year the boys had a ton of stories about their budding hockey careers and since they were unable to agree on who is the better player I will have to fit in a game this year and decide for myself Remembering how shy little miss M was last year I decided to snap a shot of River before heading out to the shoot, I knew that if all else fails that picture would put a smile on her face for a few pictures. To my surprise she wasnt so shy anymore and began telling me all about the new puppy she had gotten since the last time we met I always find it amazing how fast little ones turn into big ones and its a privilege as a photographer to be able to capture a family as it grows older. Thanks for another great morning Taggart family see you next year!!
My fall portrait season started a little early this year, well I wouldn’t consider the end of September early but I because of the great weather we had been having the trees must have forgotten it was fall. I met up with the Irwin Family at Sunnidale park on one of the brightest (but coldest) September mornings I can remember in recent years. Mom picked out two adorable outfits and matching bows which made these beautiful girls even cuter. We spent most of our morning together chasing each other around and playing in the gardens which is always my favourite way of capturing little ones their age and once everyone was tired out we found a shady spot to grab a couple shots of the whole family. Irwin Family you guys were a ton of fun can’t wait for us to do it again!! Enjoy!!
I have been getting queries for a couple weeks now about this little guy and the eta of his photos. Well wait no longer folks and meet the newest addition to our growing family my new nephew Lincon James. Lincon was supposed to arrive in August but decided to keep us and his poor mommy waiting an extra couple of very hot weeks and finally made his debut on September the 8th (which also happens to be my little brothers birthday). Me and my camera finally got a chance to meet up with Lincon on his 11th day and after 2 long hours of fighting us he finally decided to drift off long enough for us to sneak a few cute shots. Enjoy!
I am going to start by saying I have never posted any images from the many boudoir sessions that I have done over the past year or so, I honestly believe that the memories created from these types of sessions are special and whether or not the world sees them should be at the sole discretion of my clients. That being said after shooting this particular session I asked if I could post a couple of carefully selected images from the outdoor portion of our shoot to show my blog readers that boudoir doesn’t have to be uncomfortable and vulnerable, it can be fun, flirtatious and can be shot in any environment you feel comfortable in. Enjoy!!
Every now and then you meet someone or a family that simply takes your breath away and Shanna, James and their new addition Marshall are definitely that kind of family. Shanna and James are the creative minds behind Iconic Design in Barrie, I met them recently while on a quest for a better designed logo and was overjoyed when they asked me to come meet their little guy Marshall. From the moment I walked into their home I could feel the love that this family shares with each other and little Marshall’s adorable facial expressions and handsome ocean blue eyes are two things I wont soon forget. Thank you Shanna James and Marshall opening your home and your hearts to me and my camera (and all of my gear lol) and congratulations on your growing family!!
Since today is the official arrival of Baby “L” I thought I better get this post published Over the past couple of years my clients have opened their hearts and homes and allowed me to share in many amazing life changing events and occasions but nothing is more special to me then being able to capture these memories for my own family. Some of you may remember my sister-in-law Lindsay from my first “Rock the Dress” session last summer, well this summer her and Richard are welcoming their first child, which happens to also be the first (non fur-baby) niece/nephew/grand baby to our growing family. We had all spent the weekend in London for a family wedding and with the due date only a couple of weeks away we decided it was best to have the session in and around Barrie just incase baby decided to come early. Lindsay’s only real request was a great beach shot and course no Holland Family photoshoot or family outing would be complete without a stop over at DQ. Congratulations you guys!! Look forward to meeting my newest ________ (its still a secret) later on tonight!!
Back in July I had the privilege of taking Maternity portraits for fellow photographer Jennifer Newberry. We have been helping each other out with wedding commissions this summer so it was fun to just hang out, laugh a bit and shoot for fun for a couple of hours. Jen edited most of her pictures herself but I couldn’t resist editing a few of my favourites to share with all of you!!!
With Love
Jennifer
PS> Jen I told you that baby was going to come early!!! Congratulations Newberry Family on your beautiful new addition Savannah!!!
When my expecting photog friend Jennifer offered me up a second shooting opportunity at the Heintzman House I just couldn’t pass it up. The house is one of the oldest homes in the greater Toronto area and maintains most of its original and historic character that has made it home to many prominent residents and a must see venue for any brides to be looking planning a more intimate wedding. Besides a little confusion with having 3 Jen’s present, Jen and Erik’s day couldn’t have gone off more smoothly, every last detail, including our shooting times had been scheduled down to the minute. It was a welcomed change to have an appointed family member directing the group shots and allowed us to finished up with a few extra minutes to grab a parlor shot before their grand entrance as husband and wife. Jen and Eric I hope you both enjoyed your day as much I we did shooting it and seriously Jen you should really consider a career as a wedding planner. Stay tuned for Jennifer’s (the photographer) maternity photos soon!
